General Rules


1. Admission to the Library is free.


2. Before entering the reading room, one must sign the attendance Register, leave bags, backpacks, umbrellas and bulky objects, and must switch off mobile phones.


3. Silence is to be kept in all library rooms, and it is forbidden to smoke and to consume food or beverages.


4. Two personal computers are available in the reading room to access the library indexes and the on-line indices (Opac), free of charge.


5. The volumes in the reading room are organized in open shelves for direct access to the reader who, after consultation, will leave any item on the tables, and will not put them back onto the shelves. Whenever a book or journal is not found in the reading room, it may be requested from the librarian.


6. The loan is free and allowed for a maximum of 30 days; an eventual extension may be given by phone. Exclusion for further loans is applied to anyone who misses the deadline. The Library user will return the material in his care without folding pages or marking them in any way; replacement costs for damaged items will be charged to the user. Encyclopedias, dictionaries, periodicals, booklets, lecture notes and all pubblications before 1900 are not on loan. The Library management reserves the right to place further restrictions.

 

7. Borrowers must apply for a Library card which will be given after filling the form with personal data. (Personal data is for library internal use only, as by privacy law n. 675/96).


8. It is possible to use the inter-library loan service. Any charge is to be covered by the borrower.  This service is also availiable to other Libraries by: mail, fax, e-mail; the volumes will be in their responsible care. The borrowing Library will be charged for postage and handling.


9. It is possible to suggest the purchase of books by writing details in the provided desiderata Register located in the entrance hall.
