The Church in the light of the Holy Scriptures
Third symposium in Pitesti - Curtea de Arges, Romania
May 6-7 2010
This is the third annual symposium organized by the Saint Filofteia Faculty of Orthodox Theology, Orthodox University of Pitesti (Romania) in cooperation with the St. Bernardine Institute of Ecumenical Studies of Venice. The symposium was held at the Archbishopric of Curtea de Arges on May 6-7, the general topic being The Church in the light of the Holy Scriptures.
The most relevant aspect of this series of meetings is the evaluation of two different methodologies in dealing with problems. Time after time, the participants come to know each other; they begin to understand the other speaker's way of discoursing and they make their own more communicative. An effective result of these talks is the evident role of language in the dialogue.
The Professors from our Institute and the Antonianum Pontifical University offered a solid contribution to the symposium with five essential presentations in the program: Celestino Corsato: Description of the neo-testamentary images of the Church as in the Fathers; Marco Nobile: Ecclesiological visions in the New Testament; Tecle Vetrali: Eucharist in the life of the Corinthian Church; Janusz Syty: Constitution of the Church: hierarchy, apostolicity, ministry; Roberto Giraldo: Trinitarian foundation of New Testament Church. This year's outcome will be published in the Acts, as done in the previous two years.
The presence and the sapiential intervention of the Orthodox Archbishop Calinic contributed to a serene and fraternal atmosphere, indispensable ground for a profitable dialogue.
The topic for the fourth annual symposium, set for the same date next year, will be Apostolicity and collegiality in the Church.
